“When the founders of Austin-based Socialware arrived at Silverton Partners to make a fundraising pitch 18 months ago, their product was far from finished.
“It was still an idea we were figuring out. We had a strong technical solution, but we didn’t have all the answers, and we certainly didn’t have any customers,” CEO Chad Bockius says.
The venture capital firm saw potential and signed on as lead investor in a $2.3 million funding.
Over the next months, Bockius spent hours at Silverton’s downtown office mapping out the future of Socialware, whose software lets highly regulated businesses, such as financial services, use public social networking tools like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
The brainstorming sessions paid off. Today, Socialware has more than 90 clients, including New York Life and Cambridge Investments, and expects to more than double its roster this year.”
