This week on VO weekly, Join Kevin Koym as he flies out to Mexico. He will be broadcasting Live from Chihuahua, Mexico and will have an interview and discussion with Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development for the State of Chihuahua María Angélica Granados, Undersecretary Ulises Fernández and Undersecretary Fernando Alba.
Tech Ranch is exploring with the State of Chihuahua how to deepen trade between Texas and Chihuahua in the context of expanding the impact of the USMCA agreement. We are doing this through exploring building a Chihuahua-Texas Venture Bridge, building on the success of the Mexico Austin Innovation Bridge funded by the Mexican government in 2018-2019.
Some of the topics expected to be discussed are the following:
Foreign Direct Investment
-Where a company starts exploring moving to Chihuahua, or opening a new facility or investing in another company (not a startup).
-FDI is made by an investor, company, or government from another country.
-It may involve acquiring a source of materials (or a company), expanding a company’s footprint, or developing a multinational presence.
-It may include the provision of management, technology, and equipment as well.
-Long term, hard asset, cross border.
